How to Wash Machine-Washable Wool Knitwear

◆ Essentials You’ll Need

  • Mild detergent for delicate clothing (neutral detergent)
  • Laundry net

◆ Washing Steps

1️⃣ Turn the knitwear inside out and place it in a laundry net (this prevents surface fuzzing).
2️⃣ Use the "hand wash" or "gentle cycle" on your washing machine.
3️⃣ Minimize spin drying time (30-60 seconds in the washing machine, or gently press excess water out using a bath towel).
4️⃣ Lay flat to dry (keep the garment inside out and dry it in the shade. Shape it gently to prevent distortion and shrinkage).

◆ Important Points to Prevent Deformation & Shrinking

✔ Use neutral detergent.
Avoid hanging dry (do not use a hanger).
Do not use a tumble dryer.

◆ Caring for Knitwear at Dry Cleaners

  • Dry cleaning does not remove sweat stains. If sweat removal is necessary, request a water wash at the dry cleaner.

How to Hand-Wash Machine-Washable Wool Knitwear

◆ Pre-Wash Tips

Use lukewarm water and gently press wash
→ Keep water temperature at 30°C or lower to prevent fabric damage.
Use a mild detergent for delicate clothing
→ Wool is sensitive to alkaline detergents, so always use a neutral detergent.

◆ Essentials You’ll Need

  • A bucket or basin
  • Delicate clothing detergent
  • Laundry net (just the right size for a folded sweater)
  • Fabric softener (optional – use the recommended amount if preferred)

◆ Hand-Washing Steps

1️⃣ Fold the sweater neatly before washing.
2️⃣ Fill the basin with lukewarm water (max 30°C) and add detergent, then mix gently.
3️⃣ Submerge the sweater and press-wash for about 3 minutes.
4️⃣ Drain the water, fold the sweater neatly into a laundry net, and spin-dry in the washing machine for 1 minute on low spin.
→ The laundry net should be a perfect fit. If it’s too big, tie the edges to secure it.
5️⃣ Refill the basin with fresh water and add fabric softener (if using).
Do not rub or wring the sweater. Let it soak for 1 minute.
Do not use leftover bathwater, as it may contain bacteria that can cause odors. Always use clean water.
6️⃣ Drain the water and do another 1-minute low spin dry in the washing machine.
7️⃣ Lay the knitwear on a spread-out bath towel and roll it up to absorb excess water.
8️⃣ Shape the knitwear by gently patting it, then lay it flat on a drying net in a shaded area.
Avoid pulling or stretching the garment.
Direct sunlight can cause fading, yellowing, and excessive shrinking, so always dry in the shade.

◆ Proper Knitwear Storage

  • Do not hang knitwear – instead, fold it to prevent stretching and deformation.
  • To remove wrinkles from stored knitwear, place a pressing cloth over it and use a steam iron for a fluffy finish.
  • If deep wrinkles remain, lightly spray with water and iron carefully.
  • When wearing knitwear, be mindful of pilling by avoiding friction with outerwear, bags, belts, or accessories.

By following these steps, you can keep your knitwear in excellent condition for a long time!
